Let’s Do Something about Climate Change

What can we do here in Silicon Valley to meet the most profound global challenge of our time? Plenty!

SSV has three main programs aimed at tackling climate change. Two programs, Energy and Water, focus on simple reduction strategies, including the use of pilot projects to effect change.  Our third program, called Communities of Practice, promotes ways of sharing knowledge and best practices so you have the tools you need to bring about change.

Over the last decade, SSV partners who participate in our voluntary CO2 emissions reduction initiative have consistently lowered CO2 emissions at a faster rate than their counterpart organizations.  We expect similar results in water usage as our newer Water reduction initiative develops a track record. Join us today and do something about climate change right here in Silicon Valley.

AGU Presents Climate Change Science for Communities and Institutions
NASA Earth science is providing information at appropriate geospatial scales to help businesses, institutions, and local and regional communities plan for and adapt to future environmental impacts of climate change. American Geophysical Union invites submissions that present current Earth science data acquisition, research, and analytical methodology in contexts that bring climate science into focus for practical applications and actions stemming from sustainability policy and supporting strategies. Topics include research on physical and biological CC impacts, understanding regional and global linkages, adaptation strategies for natural and built environments, institutional approaches and case studies leading to mitigation and improved resilience. Annual West Summit WEST: Water, Energy, Smart Techology

The WEST Summit is Sustainable Silicon Valley’s largest annual event, furthering the organization’s mission to lead the Silicon Valley community to a more sustainable future. WEST stands for Water, Energy, and Smart Technology, all critical elements necessary to drive sustainability in our region and beyond.

 

The SSV EcoCouncil provides a forum for senior level managers and executives of our Sustaining Partners to share sustainability and climate change strategies.

As a member of the EcoCouncil, you can enhance your brand and position your organization among partners and customers as a leader in sustainability and climate change. Participation in exclusive EcoCouncil Salons provide you with

Sustainability Leaders Forum

 

Sustainability leaders are the employees and employee volunteers who help identify and implement specific improvements to make their organizations operate in a more sustainable fashion. SSV regularly convenes Sustainability Team Leaders (formerly called Green Team Leaders) to share experiences and to identify common challenges and solutions.
