Jennifer Thompson

Ms. Jennifer Thompson was appointed the Executive Director of Sustainable Silicon Valley in 2016. Under her leadership, SSV has grown into a project-based organization winning the three largest grants since the organization was founded in 2000. Today, SSV is focused on water reuse, air quality and transportation with the goal of improving the lives of all Silicon Valley residents with an emphasis on priority populations.

Jennifer has over 20 years of nonprofit and media experience building cross-sector partnerships with a focus on sustainability. Jennifer was an Executive Producer for the David & Lucile Packard Foundation’s Fellowships Program for Science and Engineering. In 2008, she founded Green21 forming partnerships with the major cornerstones of public media, nonprofits, educational programs, and civic engagement, and participated in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) America.

Jennifer was introduced to sustainability while working on the Emmy-winning series “Digital Journey” featuring Amory Lovins, Bill McDonough, Stewart Brand, and many other visionaries. In New York, Jennifer worked for the legendary Maysles Films, and early in her career, she worked on “From Hollywood to Hanoi,” which was nominated as the best nonfiction film at Sundance. Jennifer earned a B.A. from New York University in 1994.
