Sustain-a-Palooza! Highlights

I’ve been asked “What’s your favorite part of Sustain-a-Palooza! ?” more than a few times now in the days following SSV’s inaugural Sustainable Life event. While the answer fundamentally is the equivalent of picking out your favorite child, I can honestly use the over-used “It’s all good.” My real answer starts with a question about the questioner’s interests and needs, because Sustain-a-Palooza! has something for everyone, provided you were looking for information on…

  • SSV programs in AQ, Mobility & Water
  • Community Choice Energy programs form PCE, SVCE, SJCE and BayREN
  • Air District shorts on Wildfires
  • Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein’s Restaurant Project
  • Sunnyvale’s FoodCycle Program
  • Acterra’s Healthy Plate, Healthy Planet
  • Expert advice on healthy buildings
  • Insight into the world of chocolate and its home-makings
  • Felicia Marcus discussing drought and our increasingly thirsty atmosphere

And that was just the Day One! To be fair to Day Two…

  • Santa Clara County Sustainability programs
  • Silicon Valley Bike Coalition work on planning and design
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium’s programs on on Seafood, Plastic and Climate
  • The movement across the Bay Area and beyond for all-electric building codes
  • A Gridizen’s Guide to smart all-electric home retrofits
  • VOCA’s citizen engagement micro-polling efforts
  • Bill Weihl on the urgency of our finding our Climate Voices

So the point here is that with Sustain-a-Palooza! and our Sustainable Life program, we really want to deliver a whole bunch of good stuff from a whole bunch of sources. This modern life we’re in involves tons of decisions both small & large on issues ranging from immunology and public health to climate impacts and meaningful actions to finding good food for dinner (and chocolate for after). Our hope is to build a community that together can fill in answers to all these questions, one plant-based meatball at a time.
