2009 Annual Progress Report

Every year, Sustainable Silicon Valley publishes an Annual Progress Report assessing our progress as a region on the aggressive goals we have set for ourselves. SSV and its partners have made a commitment to reducing our CO2 emissions by 20% from 1990 levels by 2010. This is no small feat for a region that continues to experience explosive growth year after year. The 2009 Annual Progress Report highlights the aggregated performance of our partner organizations and compares it to the actual energy use of the region as a whole. By acting as a regional registry and aggregating data, SSV is able to track and communicate overall results to business, elected and community leaders and to be part of a process of setting realistic targets. Volunteers Needed for SSV Annual Event Planning

On December 6th, 2010, Sustainable Silicon Valley will present the WEST (Water Energy Smart Technology) Summit and are looking for volunteers to help make the event a success.

The purpose of the event is to catalyze a Sea Change in Action Towards Long Term Resiliency through distributed management of Water and Energy Supply in Silicon Valley.

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available to fit your schedule and interest areas. If you are interested in lending your time to help SSV organize and manage this event, please contact Michele Reilly at mreilly (at) sustainablesv.org or sign up on this form.

Now Collecting SSV Partner Data!

SSV Partners are now able to upload their 2009 energy and water use data to Sustainable Silicon Valley's regional registry using a new software tool powered by Hara. Partner data is collected once a year in spring, the results of which are aggregated and used as the basis for the SSV Annual Progress Report. By measuring and highlighting the collective efforts of SSV parter organizations, we are able to track progress towards reducing emissions in the Silicon Valley region.

SSV Partners are encouraged to report on their 2009 sustainability efforts and resource consumption by July 15, 2010.
